Intercultural Development
What is Intercultural Development (ID)?
Intercultural Development leverages cultural competency and helps churches along in the reconciliation process. Intercultural Development is foundational to reconciliation. LMDJ walks alongside churches and communities as they embrace the mosaic of God’s Kingdom, learning how to engage in mutual exchange and share life with people across ethnicity and culture.
All of us can benefit from Intercultural Development. ID is particularly essential in churches that do not reflect the ethnic diversity of their community. Through using ID tools and resources, the church can be equipped to participate in the breaking down of dividing walls of hostility and misunderstanding as we work alongside those in our neighborhoods.
Intercultural Development is pursued in conjunction with other Ministry Development initiatives and Racial Righteousness offerings: the Invitation to Racial Righteousness Suite, Sankofa, Journey to Mosaic, the LMDJ Curriculum, and others.
Resources
We connect congregations and individuals with assessments and practical tools to move churches along in their intercultural comprehension and development. These tools help churches and individuals to identify intercultural goals and challenges, increase cultural self- understanding, and enable improved accomplishment of key intercultural goals.
LMDJ Curriculum
This LMDJ video-based curriculum will help small groups, ministry teams and individuals discover and apply the faith related imperatives presented in the 2011 Covenant Resource Paper: The Covenant Church and The Ministry of Compassion, Mercy, and Justice.
This curriculum invites the participant to dig deeper into the Bible assisted by the Resource Paper and video presentations from Covenant leaders and North Park faculty. The desired outcome would be a faithful response that opens heart, head, and hands to loving mercy and doing justice in our daily lives.
Intercultural Development Inventory
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is an excellent resource for individuals and congregations. It builds awareness, sensitivity, competency and contextually relevant feedback.
For more information about the Intercultural Development Inventory or to request a facilitator for an assessment or ID seminar please contact the LMDJ office at Lmdj@covchurch.org.
